Saddington Taylor is delighted to have been nominated for an award at the Insider Media North East Property Awards 2023 as part of the team behind Oak Meadows in Middleton St. George, Darlington.
Calmont Group’s 61 dwelling scheme is competing for Residential Development of the Year alongside Scholar’s View, Sunderland and St. Martin’s Green, Stockton. Saddington Taylor acted as the planning agent on behalf of Calmont Group, providing specialist advice from project inception through to the award of planning permission and the discharge of conditions.
The result is a scheme of high-quality, contemporary dwellings including a mixture of three-bedroom, four-bedroom, and five-bedroom units. The design of the dwellings is based on traditional residential building forms, modified by adding and extracting areas of mass, introducing large openings, and adapting pitched roof forms to suit each house type. The introduction of a carefully-selected materials palette also contributes to the variations in texture and rhythm which characterise the scheme. The dwellings are distributed across six distinct character areas within the site which, in conjunction with well-designed landscaping, helps to create a coherent sense of place. Residents benefit from a generous amount of private amenity space in the form of gardens and upper floor terraces.
